The Loco Moco is a dish unique to Hawaii. There are many variations, but the essential loco moco consists of white rice topped with a hamburger patty, a fried egg, and brown gravy. As you can see, this particular version at the Hawaiian Style Cafe in Waimea, includes grilled onions. My cousin was eager to visit the Cafe to indulge in this ‘pile of goodness’ for breakfast. Each to their own I suppose.
Needless to say, he didn’t eat until dinner.
Meanwhile I had two scrambled eggs and wheat toast.
